AJR| Recent reports claim the only reason Andrew McCabe still has a job is thanks to Chris Wray and his threat of resignation.
Andrew McCabe is the current deputy director of the FBI despite President Trump’s open aversion to his clear Hillary-loving personality. Why is this wolf in sheeps clothing still employed by a government organization? That would be because the director of the FBI, Chri Wray, threatened to resign if AG Jeff Sessions removed his deputy from the payroll roster. Why are these open threats being tolerated? Who gets to threaten their boss and get away with it? Seems to me that despite Comey’s removal the country is still dealing with a less than optimal FBI director.
Three sources with knowledge of the matter told Axios that Wray made that threat after Attorney General Jeff Sessions pressured him to fire McCabe. Sessions reportedly told Wray to make a “fresh start” with his personnel.
The news came amid controversy over Trump’s public treatment of his Justice Department, especially the FBI, and special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether Trump attempted to obstruct justice when he fired former FBI Director James Comey.
Last year, Trump suggested Sessions should have fired McCabe, whom the president described as “a Comey friend who was in charge of Clinton investigation but got…big dollars ($700,000) for his wife’s political run from Hillary Clinton and her representatives.”
“Drain the swamp!” he added. McCabe is reportedly expected to retire in early 2018.
President Trump is VERY good at reading people and McCabe’s time will come with or without the protection of his boss and obvious protege.
